Just LOOK At This Shake!
When I found out Paul applied to a job in Indiana, the first thing I did was google the nearest beach. I’ve lived in Florida my entire life and the thought of not having a beach easily accessible blew my mind. Considering Indiana is land locked, I just gave in to the idea that the Beach was one thing that I was going to have to give up. However, my Florida dreams actually came true today!
Paul and I made about a 2 hour drive to Lake Michigan this morning; specifically to the Sand Dunes. Now, the Indiana Sand Dunes is a national park that consists of multiple beaches, hiking trails, and you guessed it-sand dunes. I tried to choose one of the more secluded beaches since it is a holiday and I honestly feel like I made the best choice!
We went to Central Beach which didn’t feel very crowded considering it’s tiny size. Before we got to the beach there were restrooms and a water fountain. Unfortunately, both of these amenities were closed due to the season. Yeah, I don’t know. It’s nice to know that they have them available at some point I guess. To access the beach, we had to climb down a huge slope of sand. The beach itself is compact compared to what I’m used to in Florida. One side is the ice cold water and the other is a gigantic wall of sand. There were families grilling, people with pets, and boats parked on the sand bar. Since the beach was skinny, there was no room for people to put there stuff in front of or behind ours, so everyone was just in a row. It was a dream! Haha.
After scaling the sand wall and taking hundreds (I wish I was exaggerating) of pictures, we decided to head out and explore the nearby city. Michigan City, yes in Indiana (it confused me too) was a true Indiana small town vibe. Nothing has been updated and every street had a vintage store. One of the gems we found is Bubbles Ice Cream Parlor! Ugh!!!! Just LOOK at this shake!!!!!
They had an insane amount of options and flavors, but we couldn’t resist the Chocolate Peanut Butter Epic shake! It made for an epic picture, but it also takes an epic appetite to finish. We shared and finished the shake, but couldn’t eat all the candy. They also had bubbles blowing outside to add to the theme. Being that we won’t get to go back very often, it was well worth it!
This little day excursion was just what I needed to remind me of home. I’m grateful for Paul and this life we’re getting to experience together! He’s so generous and filled with the most fun and outgoing personality! I have yet to feel like Indiana is sub-par to Florida in any way, regardless of what literally everyone everywhere says. Not joking, everyone. I believe it’s because I’m dating my best friend every single day. It doesn’t matter where we are, there will always be an adventure with Paul.
