Peppermint

Linens & Spiders. Oh My.

For those that don’t know, I’ve been into essential oils for a while. Don’t freak out! I’m not trying to sell you anything! I just really enjoy helping others and feel that this is a great way to do that.

I first started using essential oils when a few friends of mine started selling them. I was hesitant at first, but they actually worked! I put tea tree oil on a cyst and it was gone in days! I diffused lavender and I slept like a baby! I’m not here to sell you oils or anything, I’m just saying they work for me and make me happy!

I’ve had a bit of downtime this week and I’ve been playing with some different recipes using essential oils. I decided to share them on here as I figured them out. You know, saving you time since I have so much. Haha. I also added links to the company that I use, Rocky Mountain Oils, which is cheaper and just as good as the main brands. Again, I’m getting nothing from this. Just sharing information!

I bought this awesome pack of amber glass bottles from Amazon. It says a 9 pack and it definitely only comes with 8 bottles, but I’m not complaining. It came with all the DIY tools and even had stickers for me to label them with. I’ve been using them about 2 weeks and they’re working great! Here is the link!

Linen Spray

Simple is always better when it comes to essential oils. The more scents you start throwing together the more potent and stinky it gets. My suggestion is to use as few oils as possible. With that in mind, I wanted a refreshing spray I could use to liven up the house and my closet a bit. Lavender, Lemon, and Rose are a few of my favorite scents and they all have great benefits. Unfortunately, Rose essential oil is too expensive for me to buy right now. so I whipped up this recipe and added rose witch hazel to the mix since I already had some. It’s perfect!! I get that soft floral smell without the steep price.

In a 16 oz amber glass bottle combine:

  • 2 cups Vodka or rubbing alcohol
  • 20 drops Lavender
  • 20 drops Lemon

* if you wish to add the Rose witch hazel, use 1 1/2 cups Vodka and 1/2 cup witch hazel.
*Blend of Rose is also a cheaper alternative, but it is already fractionated with coconut oil.

Vodka/alcohol gives the oils something to hold on to and helps the smell last longer than water would. Buy the cheap stuff!

You can play around with the amounts based on your preference of scent strength.

Bonus!

Anti-Spider Spray

I saw a spider and it inspired this.

In a 2 oz amber spray bottle combine:

  • 5 drops Lemon
  • 5 drops Peppermint
  • A little squeeze of dish soap (I use Dawn)
  • Fill the rest with water.
Spray all the corners, all around your doors, and really anywhere you don’t want a spider.

Some oils, including peppermint, are not safe around small children. Consider only using Lemon or another citrus oil for this recipe. Spiders don’t like those either.
