Breakup with Your Makeup

I was definitely in a tree for this picture. Paul and I have been spending our time outdoors as much as we can in this beautiful Fall weather. We've been going to the farmer's market every Saturday and pick up some of the best products. You can get locally grown raspberry honey, coffee, jam, flowers, meat, produce and so much more! It's actually a rule that the vendors must produce their own products to be in the market. I love getting to know all the vendors and hearing about their business. My favorite was the guy that sold honey. His answer was " Well, I don't produce anything. The bees do."... Touché Bill (fake name).

Anyway, we're really enjoying this season and I absolutely can't wait for all the fall festivals and bright colors! There's a few trees changing here and there and Im already in awe. Look out for all the fun tree pictures in the next few weeks! You can be sure I'll be all over the festivities!

DIY Makeup Remover Wipes

I don't usually wear a lot of makeup, but I do wear mascara daily. The biggest struggle I have is trying to get all the mascara off so I don't end up looking like a raccoon the next day. When I ran out of my makeup remover a few weeks ago I decided it wasn't worth spending money on right then. With my current budget not allowing me to spend much on anything, I decided to try making my own makeup wipes. This only worked because I already had all the ingredients, which only worked because I combined multiple recipes. They all called for one oil or ingredient that I don't have and don't want to buy currently. So, after an entire day of researching I came up with my own recipe that worked.

Another set back was the jar. I didn't have an empty "pint sized" jar lying around. What I did have was a 12 oz jar of some old leftover butter chicken sauce in the fridge. So, I threw that sucker in the dishwasher and altered the recipe since the jar was a tad smaller. It worked great!

*Side note if you too choose to use a leftover butter chicken jar: the lid still smelled like butter chicken and was tinted yellow, sequentially turning the top cotton round yellow and smelly. I simply just leave that one on top and use the ones beneath.

What you'll need

  • 1 Glass Jar with air tight lid (Recipe is for a 12oz jar)
  • Cotton Rounds or squares (around 25-30)
  • 3 Tbsp. Alcohol free witch hazel (I used Rose scented)
  • 5 Tbsp. Skin supporting oil (I used Fractionated Coconut Oil)
  • 8 drops Lavender Oil
  • 6 drops Frankincense Oil (I use Frankincense Serrata. It's cheaper.)
  • 4 Tbsp. Filtered water
  • Optional: 1 Tsp. Vitamin E Oil (I thought of this afterwards so I didn't add it to mine, but it's really great for your skin)

How to make it

  1. Combine all ingredients except the cotton rounds in the jar and shake it. (Please put the lid on first.)
  2. Stack the cotton rounds in the jar and flip it upside down for a few minutes to coat them all. Add more cotton rounds if there is extra liquid.
  3. Turn the jar right side up and use to wipe your makeup off or simply moisturize your face before bed.
  4. *Please avoid your eyes.

These wipes not only get all my mascara off, but they leave my face feeling soft and refreshed. I feel so much better knowing exactly what is going on my face. They also travel well because it's not "liquid"!

I love Rocky Mountain oils and the free program they have. So if you want oils that are the same grade as the bigger expensive brands, but want them at a fraction of the cost click this link! You know you want to.
